Is dynamic DR difficult to distinguish between true and false? Static DR is about to end?
After the birth of CT in 1971, there was a wave of image digitization. In 1979, the DR system for flying point scanning emerged. At the RSNA North American Radiological Society's product exhibition in 1980, DR exhibits attracted worldwide attention. Subsequently, various countries competed to develop DR systems and detectors, and launched many practical DR devices. Compared to traditional X-ray machines, DR has the characteristics of clearer images, lower radiation, and faster examination speed. With the development of technology, dynamic DR has emerged in recent years, greatly reducing the rate of missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis. However, many grassroots hospitals have also reported buying fake dynamic DRs. Today, the editor will come to popularize what is truly dynamic DR.
1、 DR, the imaging equipment with the highest localization rate
The full name of DR is Digital Radiography, which uses X-ray detectors to convert X-ray images into electrical signals and then convert them into digital images; Analog images can also be obtained through X-TV or X-ray photographs, and then converted into digital images. DR mainly consists of X-ray generators, X-ray detectors, image processors, and image displays. Due to the mature development of the industry, relevant data shows that the localization rate of DR equipment has reached 80%, with the highest localization rate among the numerous segmented fields of imaging equipment. According to data from the China Medical Equipment Association and industry estimates, as of 2017, the domestic DR inventory was approximately 55000 units. Due to the relatively mature DR market, Chinese medical institutions have a history of configuring X-ray machines for decades. The annual demand for equipment updates and the incremental market brought by the popularization of DR devices have led to an annual sales volume of 15000 to 20000 units in the Chinese DR market.
2、 Dynamic DR, a capable assistant for grassroots hospitals
At present, the country is vigorously promoting the policy of graded diagnosis and treatment, establishing a graded diagnosis and treatment system based on the first diagnosis at the grassroots level, with the aim of retaining the diagnosis and treatment of common, frequently occurring, and chronic diseases in grassroots medical and health institutions. This has higher requirements for the ability of grassroots diagnosis and treatment services, and conventional static DR can no longer meet the initial diagnosis needs of multiple types of diseases at the grassroots level. Respiratory diseases such as pediatric bronchitis, gynecological diseases such as pelvic inflammatory disease, adnexitis, gastrointestinal diseases such as gastroesophageal reflux, orthopedic diseases such as metacarpal fractures, etc. The diagnosis of these diseases has exceeded the scope of conventional static DR diagnosis, but these diseases are required by government policies to be first diagnosed at the grassroots level.
The emergence of multifunctional dynamic DR provides a solution to this contradiction in grassroots medical institutions. The patients received by township central health centers require a wide range of diagnostic types, some requiring X-rays and some requiring imaging. If it is a first-class hospital, it is impossible to buy multiple machines due to local restrictions. As most young people move towards cities, the majority of patients treated in township health centers are elderly people, and under the graded diagnosis and treatment policy, the government subsidizes free annual physical examinations for elderly people over 60 years old. Due to the difficulty in diagnosing age-related diseases, dynamic DR examination can effectively improve the accuracy of diagnosis. The multifunctional dynamic DR is equipped with functions such as fluoroscopy, imaging, and whole body splicing, which can meet the diagnostic needs of various diseases in the internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics departments of township health centers. It can be said that purchasing a dynamic DR from the radiology department of grassroots hospitals activates all departments. Compared to conventional static DR, dynamic DR can more effectively improve grassroots diagnosis and treatment capabilities, and is a new path to break through the traditional dilemma of grassroots medical care.
3、 What is' fake 'dynamic DR?
In 2009, the renowned imaging manufacturer Shimadzu combined a gastrointestinal machine with an image intensifier as its core and a mature tablet DR to manufacture the first multifunctional dynamic DR, achieving visual filming. However, at that time, due to high manufacturing costs and technological monopolies by foreign companies, the price of dynamic DR was relatively expensive, and only a few high-end hospitals could afford to purchase it. In 2016, with the large-scale listing of domestic dynamic DR, the price of dynamic DR significantly decreased and began to enter grassroots hospitals in large quantities. At the same time, there has also been a problem of dynamic DR being difficult to distinguish between true and false. So what exactly is true dynamic DR?
Dynamic DR can be understood as an X-ray video of organ movement observed from different angles. Conventional static DR mostly displays projected images of organs, making it difficult to detect subtle lesions at a single angle and time point. Dynamic DR can observe organ movements from different angles and times, greatly improving diagnostic accuracy. The multi angle examination of dynamic DR has a visual effect that is somewhat similar to CT. Functionally speaking, Dynamic DR is a multifunctional DR that can perform digital photography, digital fluoroscopy, and digital imaging. Technically speaking, dynamic DR is a direct digital X-ray photography system that uses multifunctional dynamic digital detectors for imaging. Clinically, dynamic DR has a large format (17 inches) × 17inch high-definition film, large format (17inch) × Basic functions such as 17 inch fluoroscopy, real-time video storage and playback, visual imaging, millisecond point imaging, as well as extensibility functions such as tomographic fusion and digital subtraction. Only dynamic DR that meets functional, technical, and clinical standards simultaneously can be called a true dynamic DR.
